About Nursing

Nursing is said to be part of the trinity of selfless careers along with motherhood and teaching; the reason being that one needs an altruistic sense of duty, which is to be able to serve and do one's duty with passion, commitment and dedication. It is a profession that focuses on assisting individuals to recover and maintain their health.

Nursing personnel are trained to develop professional aptitude as a nursing practitioner and provided necessary theoretical knowledge and practical training in nursing to patients in all types of illness. Imparting skills in management, research and teaching in nursing as well as guidance and counselling of patients. For ages now, Caring and nursing have always been thought of synonymously. Caring is a science that encompasses a humanitarian, human science orientation, human caring processes, phenomena, and experiences. Rightly said, caring science includes arts and humanities as well as science. Nursing is a profession focused on assisting individuals, families, and communities in attaining, maintaining, and recovering optimal health and functioning. It is all about helping the patient gain a higher degree of harmony within the mind, body, and soul. It is achieved through caring transactions. The nurse seeks to connect with, embrace the spirit or soul of the patient, through the processes of caring and healing.

A nurse is vital part of the healthcare scene, making invaluable contribution to the healing process through the touch of compassion and care. Nurses focus on the needs of the individual, rather than specific illnesses or conditions. They help individuals and their families to live more comfortable lives by providing care, advice and counseling. In general terms, the nursing process is the method used to assess and diagnose needs, plan and implement interventions, and evaluate the outcomes of the care provided. Besides this, Midwives are also one of the main supporting systems of our healthcare industry. They contribute by extending support, guidance and caring for the mother, baby and family through the months of pregnancy, during the birth itself and afterwards during postnatal period.

The students are trained in recognising and interpreting intelligently the physical, and mental and emotional manifestation of illness and to plan nursing care to patients on the basis of their individual needs. Building up moral and ethical values and evidence based practice with regard to nursing. They are trained to work in mutual co-operation with medical and para-medical personnel and to purposefully participate in the various programmes for the prevention of diseases and for the promotion of health in the community & training the students to provide excellent scientific nursing, care to patients and to all those who need medical attention.
